All About Us - New Board Game

Introducing the first board game truly developed for people with dementia, with people with dementia, to focus on the power of life-storytelling and mindfulness to build wellbeing.

The result of a European-funded research and design project to positively affect the wellbeing and confidence of those with dementia, this wonderful game was produced as a collaboration between the MinD project (led by academics from Manchester Metropolitan University, partnering with the University of Wolverhampton, the NHS and Alzheimer Europe) and Relish, in consultation and review with over 100 people with early to mid-stage dementia across the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain.

A first of its kind, our brand-new life-storytelling boardgame uses conversation as a way of exploring your life from childhood through the present and into the future. It invites you to think and talk about who you are, your experiences, feelings and values and what you have done and want to do, supporting those all-important feelings of identity, independence and sense of purpose, while building closer relationships.

It’s a cooperative game, where all players share their stories and explore their life with each other. Play with friends, family, groups or anyone you choose to.

Designed and researched alongside people with dementia, this game features bright, contrasting colours, clear recognisable shapes, a large typeface and easily holdable cards for those with reduced dexterity.

$159.90 Incl. GSTAdd to cart

Comforting and engaging, ‘Arthur’, combines the profound benefits of targetted music with sensory and tactile feedback, with the engagement of something to be cherished and cared for.

Arthur’ is a combination of our experiences of the benefits of music for people with cognizant challenges, such as dementia, learning difficulties and autism, combined with widely accepted advantages offered by ‘doll therapy’. The care and interaction with a comforting soft toy provides a path to unlocking strong maternal instincts or feelings of security, providing both activity and self worth, whilst the music increases awareness and interaction.

Doll therapy: A large section of the community with cognizant challenges lack daily engagement. Some caregivers try to ease the burden of distress and anxiety by introducing dolls or soft toys to love and care for. The dolls can become an integral part of their life and caring for the doll can range from simple enagement to a major part of their day to day responsibilities. Doll or ‘cuddle’ therapy, may bring back happy memories of early parenthood and helps feeling useful and needed.

Music: Playing music to people with dementia or similar challenges from their formative years vastly improves their cognizance and lucidity – the effects are dramatic and are widely recognised.
